Nashcarlid Sibanda (29) left the court in stitches when he said he broke into Chicken Inn, Zvishavane because he wanted to help himself to the fast food outlet’s tasty chicken wings.
Sibanda appeared before magistrate Shepherd Mjanja facing a charge of malicious damage to property as defined in section 140 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9:23).
Prosecutor Tinashe Maponde said on November 23 last year at around 11pm, Cosmas Madziva, a security guard at Chicken Inn was on duty when Sibanda arrived and asked to place an order. Sibanda was told that the outlet had closed.
He kicked the door with the intention of forcing himself in. He caused serious damage to the door.
Damaged property is valued at $1000. Sibanda pleaded guilty and was fined $460 to be paid before February 28 or he will serve three months behind bars.The accused left the court in stitches when he said he was starving for the tasty wings and could not wait until the next day.
